Facing Stress at Work or Home? Does everything feel like a massive task?

Do you find it hard to cope with your stress levels? Is it too much to deal with your work everyday or your domestic and family duties? Some affects of stress or "burnout" can include:

  • Anxiety or depression

  • Irritability

  • Wishing everyone would leave you alone

  • Feeling a sense of pressure all the time

  • Working too much or feeling you can never get on top of domestic duties

  • Starting to eat too much food to comfort yourself or not bothering to eat

  • Increased smoking or alcohol consumption

  • Disturbed sleeping patterns

  • Tiredness and lack of enthusiasm

  • As well as everyday stresses people sometimes find it difficult to get over a traumatic event in their lives or in their families and find it hard to settle, this is sometimes referred to as "post traumatic stress". Also, some major life events such as bereavement, divorce, retirement, moving house or children leaving home can result in feelings of stress that still do not pass after a long period of time. You might find it helpful to talk through your feelings to gain a sense of relief or perspective.
